vscode with Markdown extension provides a very flexible way to set up a note taking system like Zettelkasten. Highly customizable, no cost, supported by gazillions of developers.

Hey Jochen and thank you for this submission! For now we'll postpone considering text/code editors as options, since the high workload of indexing features across (gazillions of) plugins is too time consuming for our team.
